New SIM when upgrading

Hi. I have just upgraded from an iPhone 12mini to iPhone 15. My iPhone 12 uses eSIM so has no physical SIM card. I have been sent a new SIM along with new phone. Do I have to activate this and use it or can I just switch on new phone and hold it close to old phone and transfer everything wirelessly (which I did on my last upgrade) without using the new physical SIM card? Thanks

No you don't need to use the physical SIM if you don't want to, you can do an eSIM transfer from your previous phone to get setup on the new phone like you mention. Hope you are enjoying the new phone 🙂
