Keep same SIM for SIM upgrade

If I upgrade my SIM for another 24 months with same phone and same number, do I need to change to a new SIM ? When I do an upgrade by online, there is a delivery for SIM card. Currently I have no contract for almost 1 year and have got a message about monthly price will rise after March 2023.
