As the title says really. I have an EE sim that's PayAsYouGo. I've just ordered a new contract phone with EE, and I want to use my old payasyougo sim number for this new phone. I really wanna keep this number, its very important. I want to convert it from PayAsYouGo to contract. Note that I've already ordered the new phone and selected the physical sim option, I believe that means id get a different number. Please help, thanks!

If you've ordered a new phone it will indeed come with a new number, you should be able to port the PAYG number across by contacting EE-CS on 150 after you activate the new line.

You would avoid this, and port the number as a matter of course, by using the "Upgrade from PAYG" service - https://ee.co.uk/help/mobile/upgrade/pay-as-you-go-upgrades

If you have any issues with retrospectively porting, and if you ordered your new phone by online or telesales, then that comes with a statutory 14days "change of mind" right of return, allowing you to cancel and then use the switching service instead.

I appreciate the speedy reply. Alright ill wait for the phone to arrive, activate the new number sim, then contact EE via call to port my old number. Just wondering what possible issues could come with "retrospectively porting", anything I should look out for?

None, nothing. Just wait 24 working hours for no. to port after you have activated your SIM.

By doing it this way, rather than the prescribed method advised by @bristolian , you have lost out on a discount on your new phone & the crediting of your residue PAYG credit towards your next bills.
