I have a data SIM for an iPad. I've just received my new iPad, which only supports eSIM. How can I convert my data SIM to an eSIM?

I called Tech Support. It seems it can't be converted directly, due to being a data SIM, vs. phone SIM. They are sending me a new eSIM, so should be good.

Good morning @Dez6.
Thanks for coming here.
Did you purchase your iPad and data plan through EE?

Hi Katie
I only bought the data SIM from EE, the iPad was bought somewhere else.

Thanks for confirming @Dez6.
Are you able to download your eSIM within your EE account online?

I have a very similar situation and I wanted to make sure that I am understanding you correctly; are you saying you need to buy a Phone SIM (NOT a Data SIM) to be able to easily convert it into an eSIM for the new M4 iPad?

@NARadyk No. You need to request a QR code to activate the eSIM.

I have the same issue; Apple said in the store that it’s simple to transfer to an eSim; however, EE tech support told me today that I have to go to an EE store (45 minutes drive each way for me) or wait five days for them to send a QR code via royal mail in the post. It's all very frustrating for a digital product.
