Hello - new phone trying to keep number

Hi there

i ordered a new phone online from EE on Thursday and whilst entering my details online It asked if I had a PAC code so I text O2 and popped that on my details form when ordering

the phone has come (Saturday Am )  and managed to get all set up with my apps etc but the number hasn’t switched over yet …

is that because it’s a weekend ?

I have also called O2 and told them to deactivate my sim from my old phone

On EE it also says to follow a link online and enter the PAC number and the new number so I’m not sure if I need to do that also as I entered the PAC code online when I ordered the phone and contract

thank you xx

Port-in requests are not actioned on weekends, so a PAC submitted today will be deemed submitted on Monday and actioned Tuesday.

Requesting O2 cancel your existing contract could potentially cancel the PAC validity and cause the port-in to fail. The use of the PAC by the recipient network automatically cancels the old contract.

Ah okay thank you so just need to wait - is it from when you insert the sim then as I entered the PAC when I ordered the phone online  - the instructions advised me to tell O2 to cancel so hoping it can still move over 😬

@Laurajane871  Moving your number will cancel the 02 sim.  But because you have told 02 to cancel it it might not port over as the sim has been deactivated.   Is it still working at present? If it is you need to call 02 and explain to them what you are doing and not to cancel the sim.

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone.

Yes still working raced and jumped on the phone just now to call them and they said it is scheduled to disconnect 16 Jan so hopefully will port in the next few days 😀 as given pac code to EE

If O2 have advised you of a scheduled disconnection on 16th Jan, that would fit with a 30day notice cancellation running from around 17th Dec.

That is the opposite of what you want - usually a PAC cannot co-exist with a 30day disconnection request.
