So message says I need a new SIM, to access 5g. No problem. I can download an esim.
Following process, on line id check all good.
Within 24 hours my second attached to childs phone is on my new Esim effectively cutting them off, my number on my phone is still on the SIM card that needs replacing.
I'll get two new, reliable actual SIM cards then I think.
So thanks for the opportunity to try and Esim, but it's better if when I ask for an esim for replacing the physical SIM in the phone I have in my hand, that's what I wanted, not my other number added to my phone as a second line.

Hi @Mike_999
It depends on what the message said as if you transferred over to esim as EE sent out an SIM then the esim would be cancelled as you can only have one SIM active on your account.

@Mike_999 Message from who ? You don’t need a new sim for 5G unless you have a really old SIM card. And I do mean old.

Message from EE. I'm guessing that my SIM is pretty old.
So yeah, what should be happening is simply activite a new E SIM.
Not active the Esim but with my other, seperate SIMs number installed on a separate handset adding to my handset while logged in with my primary number.
So it will be a physical SIM card now.

Can you post a screenshot of this message?
I ask because all EE SIMs are multi-technology and support all "G" from 2 through to 5. There are currently a few scams doing the rounds trying to entice users to change SIMs to "get the latest 5G" or somesuch.
There is some truth in that SIMs prior to 2021 might only support 5G in NSA mode, and a SIM replacement will enable 5GSA services.
