roaming in Cyprus

Hi, I'm on a pay monthly contract and texted roaming to 150 to activate roaming whilst i was still in the UK. I'm in Cyprus and my pixel 9 pro registered on a local network when i first turned it on. Signal was strong and the network showed as 5G. Data icon showed an "R" which i guess means roaming. I received a welcome text message from ee saying i'll automatically pay 2.47 daily to access my uk plan (5gb data, unlimited texts, unlimited minutes). I can't make or receive any calls to/from local mobiles. I can browse the web so data roaming is working. I can call ee customer support on a uk number and that works, but they're closed today. I've tried restarting my device, switching auto network selection to manual and choosing various networks. Same behaviour every time. My spending cap is on and set to £50. Anything else I can try? - thank you

@h4x0R : Try selecting a network manually rather than auto but make sure it is not a Turkish 1.

Hi,

yes, I tried several Cyprus (EU) based networks including primetel, cyta-vodafone and epic but they all behaved as described above.

In case it matters, I'm a former plusnet customer that had their number ported to ee when they stopped their service.

You've seem to have done all the right things. I can only explain it as an issue with the local networks.

Are you able to send texts to local nos.?

Everything indicates that your SIM is set up correctly for roaming in EU from the EE perspective. It's just the local networks preventing you making local calls.

Is there any way you can attempt a call to an EU but non-UK non-Cypriot no.?

My number was ported over in August 2023 and I was in the uk when it happened and have been using my ee sim without issue (in the uk). Never used it abroad.
