Turkey roaming

Hi, I’m going to turkey in may. I have a smart benefit plan and have got the roaming pass but I have no idea if I can use my mobile data while in turkey or if I will have a costly bill at the end of the month. Can anyone help?

Turkey isn't in the EU so your charges are found here under the turkey roaming page:

Please also ensure roaming and international calls are activated on your account (text ROAMING to 150)

Hi,

I was about to create a new post re Turkey Roaming as we will be travelling to Istanbul end of Feb 22. I rang EE and was advised by a CS if you are going to the European side of Turkey  We can use both our EE plans as per usual. But upon searching the internet I think CS provided me with incorrect info.

Can some one on here please correct me if im wrong or help.

@Sal09  It’s listed as Turkey so it’s the whole of Turkey. 

 It’s only northern Cyprus that you have to be careful when roaming as you could join a Turkish network and you’ll be charged for usage.

Best and safer option will be to just add Roaming Add On. I think its only £6 per day.

Apologies for the dumb question, just for my understanding and clarity - we WILL need to add roaming to use our phones in Istanbul?

Yes, you'll need to activate roaming if you're on a pay monthly plan. (Pay as you go accounts will be ready to roam)

To activate roaming, please text ROAMING to 150.

I am on Pay as you go with EE. I understand there’s no chance I could use my UK data in Istanbul like I do in Europe?

Hi Sol, apologies for the delay in response.

Overall it was good, had 3G/4G signal. Only issue was the limit, I ran out of data every day and came home to a £80 bill!
