Roaming removed.. can I get some sort of add on?

Swifty2386

My roaming add on has been removed. Extremely annoying as I’m out of the country more than I’m here! Mostly USA. I tried to change my add on from EU to ‘ROM’ whatever that is but it’s greyed out and won’t let me switch. Is there any way I can add international roaming to my plan? I can’t figure it out! I don’t mind paying a bit more a month but I’m not paying £5 a day to use my phone in the US! If not then after over 20 years with EE, I’ll be switching to a different provider who does offer international roaming. Any advice welcome. Thanks

If you get in contact with EE Customer Services, they will be able to change your Inclusive Extra for you.

The old Roam Abroad Pass has been discontinued and replaced with two separate Inclusive Extras: one covering the EU Zone and the other covering ROW (Rest Of World) Zone 1. You can see the Zones listed here: https://ee.co.uk/roamingrefresh

The new Full Works plans include both no-charge EU and ROW Zone 1 Roaming without needing to swap around Inclusive Extras.

You can also read more about the change in the Community Post here: https://community.ee.co.uk/t5/Roaming/Roaming-refresh/td-p/1480939

Hi @Swifty2386

What tariff are you on or are you on PAYG.

EE pay monthly contracts do have a fair usage policy and if you have breached this then your service will be restricted.

 Thanks

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone.

EE standard opening hours are Monday to Friday, 8am to 9pm - Saturday and Sunday, 8am to 8pm.

You should be also offered £25 / week by the Welcome text.

@Matt_124 : I thought you had previously said that there were no longer Inclusive Extras for Roaming Passes but that now Roaming Passes were baked into the plans or not.

@XRaySpeX

This would be a 'Legacy' (Pre August 29th 2024) All Rounder or Full Works plan as they have still the option for Roaming Inclusive Extras as this is how these plans originally operated.

When the Roam Abroad Pass Inclusive Extra was fully removed recently, customers on those 'legacy' plans with Roam Abroad selected were changed to an EU Roaming Inclusive Extra but they also have the option of switching this to the Roaming Pass ROW (Zone 1) Inclusive Extra to be able to still access the ROW destinations which Roam Abroad covered (plus the new destinations).

When the Inclusive Extra was changed by EE, this "greyed out" the "Change Inclusive Extra" option in the app for 30 days, but this lockout period can be bypassed by contacting CS who can change the Inclusive Extra choice within this lockout period.

Any new plans taken since 29th August 2024 have the Roaming Passes baked into the plans (EU for All Rounder, EU + Zone 1 for Full Works) and no option for any Roaming Inclusive Extras.

Thanks, @Matt_124 , that makes sense. I wasn't aware of the 30-day lockout period & wondered why the OP was prevented from switching his Inclusive Extra from EU Roaming to ROW1 Roaming.

No worries @XRaySpeX,

There is a text route also by texting PICK to 150 which some of the Community Support Team have been suggesting. The intention of this is to allow bypassing of the lockout period.

However user reports on the forum have suggested this is offering only the Roam Abroad Pass, and not allowing selection of EU or ROW Zone 1, and replying with ROAM to select it results in an error as can be seen here: https://community.ee.co.uk/t5/Roaming/Crazy-new-roaming-charges/m-p/1526265/highlight/true#M5563
