Roaming refresh

What’s changing?

  • We’ve made non Europe Zone roaming easier with EE. From the 4th of December we'll be launching our new roaming passes that you can buy from the moment you land
  • This means we’re removing a number of Inclusive Extras passes and add-ons listed below and you will no longer be able to buy a pass before you travel
  • For customers with inclusive EU Roaming today or iPhone Full Works plans, nothing is changing and those roaming benefits will stay the same. To see our new plans with roaming included click here

How can I see the new prices?

What if I don’t buy a pass when I’ve landed outside of the Europe zone?

  • You can use minutes and texts, but out of bundle rates will apply
  • You will not be able to use data
  • Out of bundle rates vary dependent on the zone follow this link to find the most accurate costs for your trip
  • We recommend buying a pass to cover all usage across minutes, texts and data

I received a text about my roaming products being removed, which products are no longer being sold?

  • The following products will no longer be available to select from the 4th of December. If you already have one of these products, it will continue to work until you are notified that this has been removed from your account
  • Roam Abroad Pass, Roam Further Pass, Roam Abroad Inclusive Extra, Roam Further Inclusive Extra, Travel Data Pass, World Select Talk and Text, Anywhere Minutes, Anywhere Texts

What happens when my product is removed?

  • You will receive a text from us when the product has been removed with more information on our new offers and instructions on how to purchase them

Inclusive Extras:

  • We will be in touch with details of when your Inclusive Extras will be changing. There'll be two new products; one for EU zone roaming and one for ROW 1 zone, which covers 33 destinations

How will this affect my travel in Europe?

  • There are no changes to the way you use your device in Europe immediately as part of this change
  • We have introduced a new EU roaming Inclusive Extra for customers on plans that can select a benefit as part of their plan
  • In 2025, there will be an EU 7-day pass which will make it cheaper for customers who pay our daily roaming charge in the EU to use their device for a full 7 days

I am going to two different countries outside of the EU. I will only be in the first country (Singapore) for three days and then will be in Australia for 5 weeks. Do I need to purchase two separate roaming passes or will a 7 day pass transfer from Singapore to Australia (and then I renew every week)?

As long as you’re in the same Roaming Zone, the pass will continue to work as normal.

@linzi  It's in the Plan Price Guide.

"The Weekly EU Pass price will not increase each year by the annual percentage increase but may increase from time to time. Note, the weekly pass price and the data allowance apply for 168 hours

(exactly 7 days to the hour) from the moment of purchase."

I’ve just travelled for the first time since switching from the old inclusive add on to the new one…

I travelled to Spain and Gibraltar this weekend and got the message to the right which basically told me I’m being charged for my roaming within the EU despite having the ROW1 add-on (see third screenshot) VS my last trip when I was on the old add on where the welcome messaging knew I had an inclusive add on taking care of the roaming charges.

I’m going to assume all is fine in the background but will keep an eye on my next bill as a just in case…

ROW1 doesn't cover the EU though?

As i understand it, there should be two separate addons for those on older All Rounder and Full Works plans.

When they launched it looked as though the wording on the RoW 1 Pass was incorrect by stating the EU countries were also included.

There should be an EU pass, alongside a RoW Zone 1 pass and these can be swapped every 30 days as Inclusive Extras.

But then some people stated they could only see one Pass. So honestly who knows🤷‍♂️.

@chistery - You’re right!!

So when I changed my inclusive extra from the Roam Abroad Pass to Roaming Pass ROW, it did also include the EU countries as well.

Thankfully I screenshotted it and shared it on this forum when I made the change as I was absolutely over the moon that the roaming offering was increasing the footprint for free of charge roaming.

Glad I did screenshot it otherwise I’d be convinced I dreamt it!

However, I also just took a look at my inclusive extras on my account and the narrative has changed AND we also have a separate Roaming Pass for the EU.

I could only see the one pass on my account.

Think we’ve cleared this one up.

EE changed the description of the Roaming Pass ROW extra, seemingly without notifying any customers who had it, some time in mid-late January - I noticed it on 24th Jan.

I contacted EE about it and they said what I got told before about it being EU+Zone 1 was wrong and I'd need to switch between the two extras. Ofc there was originally only one new extra showing - the EU one only got added in mid January.

I hope EE will refund you if you've been charged the £2.47/day. The way they've done these roaming changes has been terrible and there are still lots of issues and inaccuracies on their website, app and 150.

It's good you can access this as an inclusive extra.

Full Works plans which are supposed to be the top of the line can't and Ee don't want to know!
