Roaming not working in the US

Hi 🙂

I bought a roaming add on for my trip to the US but it's not working. I've read previous similar posts and I've done everything suggested, I think (checked that roaming is on, selected network - although not sure it connects to it). I've also checked ee's page on how to set it up but my device is not in the list (https://deviceguides.ee.co.uk/?topic=turning-data-roaming-on-or-off)

Don't know what else to do. Any suggestions more than welcome.

Thanks!

Did you receive a Welcome text upon arrival?

Are you on contract or PAYG? Had you used that SIM for making calls or texts in UK before leaving to go abroad?

If you are on contract, did you activate roaming on your EE a/c before leaving UK by texting ROAMING to 150? Having a roaming billing add-on doesn't of itself activate roaming on your a/c. Having roaming activated on your EE a/c, not just on your device, is crucial to using your contract SIM abroad.

Often just rebooting the phone is the simple remedy. Also try selecting a network manually rather than auto.

Otherwise if you are on contract you need to call CS to get your roaming activated. Try calling CS on the Freephone no. in my sig. using a web-calling app over WiFi.

Can you explain how "it's not working"? The fact that you've bought a roaming add-on tells me that your phone has a local network connection and received a welcome text message - am I correct?

Does your phone show a connection to a US network? Can you make & receive calls? Can you send & receive text messages? Can you use mobile data?

For anything that doesn't, what happens?

Hi! Yes I'm in a PAYG contract and have been using the sim while in the UK. I did not semd the roaming text prior leaving however, I have never sent this message before going to Europe and yet roaming and add on have worked there perfectly.

I did not receive any welcome message either upon arrival 😞 I had to text codes for the add ons

Hi, I have not tried to make calls/text as roaming costs are very high. I didnt reveive any welcome message, I messaged 150 to get the add on  and I had to manually connect to a network which keeps getting lost constantly. When I turn on the 3g nothing happens.

No, sorry I did receive the welcome message. The rest are as I wrote in my previous message.

Sorry, but what add-on have you bought? There is no roaming add-on for PAYG in US.

Do you have any PAYG credit on your a/c? That's the only way to pay for roaming in US on PAYG.

Ah, yes! Sorry, I'd forgotten those.

What was the text you sent to 150 to get it? Did you send the text while in UK or US?
