Roaming in USA

When i travelled to Las Vegas in February i wanted to use the Roaming Pass

I was told to text Message ROAMING 150 and then i would get a text message when I arrived which i duly got. I was told to click on the link to buy the pass

Once i clicked on the link was told to turn my internet off and then wait a few minutes before then reclicking on the link

Obviously i couldn't click on the link as internet was down but would it have worked with the mobile data roaming on and would i have got charged for this

I am going to Los Angeles on the 5th September and need to try and get a resolution

All help appreciated and thanks for reading

Mark

You'll receive a Welcome text upon arrival at a country giving your roaming options. You are asked to click on a link within it to buy a Roaming Pass. You are not charged for doing this. I believe that last time you were asked to disconnect from WiFi as it it needs to be done over the local mobile network.

If you are on contract, you may use your usual UK allowances in the EE ROW Zone 1 with up to 50 GB data per billing month if you have more, when you buy the Zone 1 Pass for £5 / day or £25 / week or already have it as an Inclusive Extra or you have an EE Full Works or EE Max Plan. Otherwise you will need to pay the charges or buy roaming add-ons as set out in https://ee.co.uk/help/mobile/roaming/roaming-costs/countries/usa.

As you are on contract, just remember to text ROAMING to 150 before leaving UK to ensure the roaming ability is enabled on your no.

The link was probably something like add-on.ee.co.uk and would work without having a valid data pass, so the text is right, you have to turn off wifi, use mobile and connect to EE to buy the pass, it does not cost anything to go to the add-on site when you don't have a roaming pass.
