Pay as you go - data roaming in USA and Japan

I am on the pay as you go subscription pack. I will be traveling to the US and Japan and would like to use data there.

How do I do this? (it's really NOT clear, if you could help me that would be great)

You can't use your pack there. On arrival you'll receive a text offering you data add-ons to buy. You'll pay for any calls & texts out of your PAYG credit. So if you expect to make any, top-up well well before you go.
