Roaming in Dubai

Hi

I'm currently on a business (monthly) contract with EE which costs me £47 p/month! It's an iPhone 14, which they wont even let me upgrade.

The first time i was abroad with this phone it didnt work (Spain), so i complained when i returned, and eventually (after a lot of shouting), they added EU Roaming free of charge. (I'm fully aware that Dubai is not in the EU)

Now going to Dubai on holiday and have just been quoted £11.08 p/day....!!!!!!!

This is on top of my £47 p/month!

And yet, the rest of my family (with other networks) can you use their phones with no need for additional costs.

Yeah, business contract

The overwhelming majority of posts to this forum are from domestic users, business accounts tend to be mentioned in the initial post somewhere with a covering comment.

In which case, https://business.ee.co.uk/help/network-and-coverage/roaming/ > "Roaming options for your destination" > "I am travelling somewhere else in the world" provides some signposting.

Edited to add - following this through, the "start or stop a roaming plan" tab does seem to suggest that domestic accounts get a better deal here than business.

Hi @Scottymatt

I'm in the same boat, ie going to Dubai soon and just found out that even with the Roaming add-on for my business mobile, my phone wont work in Dubai!  I've now spoken to them twice and they just want more money. I've literally just been quoted £11.08 p/day for the duration of the time i'm on holiday!  This is on top of the £47 p/month business contract that i'm locked into. However, all of my family are with other networks and their phones will work no probs without any additional costs.

Whom or what has quoted you £11.08/day for roaming in Dubai? It's not true.

https://ee.co.uk/help/mobile/roaming/roaming-costs > UAE has the costs.

£5/day or £25/week for the inclusive use of all your UK allowances. I strongly suspect other networks will only class the UAE as inclusive, with a billing add-on of some kind - the "free roaming" headlines are generally targeted at the EU.

Remember to ensure your global roaming is enabled by texting ROAMING to 150 before leaving the UK. There have been cases of people travelling beyond the EU and finding the hard way, that they only had EU-permissions enabled.

You said your Roaming add-on was for the EU. The UAE isn't in the EU!

Hi

I phoned 150 and spoke to one of the advisers. I explained the situation and i promise you 100% he said £11.08 p/day, i've written it down as he told me.

I am currently on the EE WhatsApp chat and they have also quoted me £11.08 p/day for World Daily Passport

I know Dubai isn't in the EU !!!!

When i asked about Roaming to be added to my monthly allowance, they just said Roaming.

There was no mention of it only covering the EU, i found this out after looking at one of my monthly bills etc.

@bristolian : This is a business contract. Prices will be diff. This will be the World Daily Pass @ £10.56 / day of Roaming for Small Business
