Roaming in Australia not working

I pay extra for roaming. Data roaming is fine but not phone or text.  EE help will only take phone calls on this issue, which is not helpful when you cannot phone. We’re in Australia and have tried taking off automatic network selection to connect to either Telstra or Optus. Phone calls don’t connect and come up ‘call failed’. When trying to text, I get a message failure and then a text from EE saying that the action is blocked as it would take my account over the spend cap (which is £20 - even through the text should be free)

If EE are texting you to say the action is blocked because of a cap it sounds like they may have a cap on roaming charges which I believe is different to the normal £20 cap on your bill, I had a similar thing a few years back and was able to call them on 150. It didn't take long for them to sort it, they just explained if I don't have a roaming bundle the bills could be high etc, I had the Roam Further bundle so just told them to remove the cap and that was it.

You should still be able to call 150 but if not your best bet would be to download the EE app if you don't already have it and start a chat with them via the app. When I did it I didn't speak to technical support, I think it may have been the billing team.

Hi @MartyBC

Thanks for coming to the community.

It does sound like the spend cap is having some impact on the usage.

Which add-on do you currently have in place?
