Roaming charges are incurred when you use services that require a mobile network connection - namely, making or receiving voice calls, sending text messages, or using mobile data.

As per https://ee.co.uk/help/mobile/roaming/roaming-costs > Brazil, you can choose from two options there. Calls & outbound texts can be made on a per-minute or per-text basis. You will only be able to use mobile data with an add-on in-place, in Brazil that means the £7.50/day pass which then allows use of your UK allowances for calls & texts, with a 500MB data allowance.

Receiving texts is free globally. If you connect your phone to WiFi routers, and only use internet-based functions, then you are not using the mobile network for this and thus no roaming charges are incurred. WiFi-calling is not supported abroad, but on the rare occasion it works, will incur standard roaming charges - it's not a means to avoid call charges.

Whatever you decide, remember to ensure the roaming facility is enabled on your SIM to allow access to the local networks abroad, there is no charge for this. Text ROAMING to 150 before leaving the UK

@Audrey100  If you use the device when not connected to WiFi you’ll be charged.  WiFi is only for data and any apps/services that use data.  A phone call/text message isn’t data so you’ll be charged even if connected to WiFi.

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone.

@Chris_B  thank you for your reply and help

The  £7:50 daily roaming charge is not auto recurring. You buy it when you land if you like & then you have to keep renewing it when it expires.
