@Debz92 You can use WiFi to your heart content with what’s app. Just remember to use a VPN on public WiFi connections.
To use your tariff allowance of calls/texts and data yes you need an add on. You also need to make sure roaming is enabled on your EE account and that’s done by texting ROAMING to 150this will allow you to connect to a roaming network to use your allowance because you have a add on.
Please have a read of THIS

Hi Chris, thanks for the reply.
Sorry but am still confused. Can I use the WiFi for free calls/txts etc and will only start paying when out of WiFi etc.
I’ve set a £20 spend cap but unsure if this is enough?
thanks

WiFi is a connection between your mobile device and broadband router, it has nothing to do with any mobile network.
If you use a mobile network for your data connection, then you'll pay data charges. Within the EU, EE charges £2.47/day for use of your UK voice, text & data allowances.

Hi.
is the £2.47 per day for unlimited calls/txts using my data and would need to increase my spend cap if I reach this?

Voice calls are charged per minute and don't use your data allowance. Text messages also don't use data.
Your mobile data allowance covers internet use.
The £2.47 daily charge covers voice calls, text messages & mobile data usage - whatever you can use in the UK.
