No Roaming in Italy

WR44
Visitor

I followed EE advice and set up roaming after landing in Italy but for 4 days now I can't get it to fix on any of the available networks,I Tim, Vodafone, iliad, 22299 etc. Even on WiFi at my holiday apt.I can't call EE  the call keeps ending before connecting (tried all their CS numbers). Today, I  tried a 2nd Sim in my phone with a helpful assistant but they couldn't get it to work in my Samsung galaxy A70. I'm paying roaming charges for another 5 days til I get back to UK. Very frustrating because I can't use maps reliably for routes, or get any data on the move at all. Probably change operators when I get back to UK! Any help would be appreciated

@WR44 : Are you on contract or PAYG? Had you used that SIM for making calls or texts in UK before you left to go abroad?

If you are on contract, did you activate roaming on your EE a/c before you left UK by texting ROAMING to 150? Having a roaming billing add-on doesn't of itself activate roaming on your a/c. Having roaming activated on your EE a/c, not just on your device, is crucial to using your contract SIM abroad.

Often just rebooting the phone is the simple remedy. Also try selecting a network manually rather than auto.

Otherwise you need to call CS to get your roaming activated. Try calling CS on the Freephone no. in my sig. on Skype over WiFi. It should be free.

If you think I helped please feel free to hit the "Thumbs Up" button below.

To phone EE CS: Dial Freephone +44 800 079 8586 - Option 1 for Mobile Phone & Mobile Broadband or Option 2 for Home Broadband & Home Phone

What you are paying is one of two things..

1: Charges for a roaming billing add-on, in which case these are not roaming charges.

2: Charges for roaming usage, in which case you are roaming.

What exactly do you think you're paying?
