I've been living abroad in South Korea for 2 years now, but I still keep my UK SIM and phone number (for return visits). I got a message the other day saying that I could lose my number if I don't send a valid text message at some point in the near future. However, whenever I've tried to send a text message or call someone using the UK phone number or even my Korean number, it doesn't connect at all. I have been back to the UK in the past year when I definitely used the SIM card. I really cannot afford to lose this phone number so I'm panicking slightly (a lot). What do I do?

What was the exact wording of the message you received? Is suspect it didn't refer to text messages specifically, but - if you're a PAYG user - to chargeable usage.
Assuming you are a PAYG user, you are subject to the hibernation policy. Read about it at https://community.ee.co.uk/t5/Pay-as-you-go/What-is-pay-as-you-go-and-flex-hibernation-and-how-do-I-...

Hello @H3lpM3Pls ,
Welcome to the community,

I would suggest using a web based app to ring customer service to make sure that you do not lose your number if you cannot send a text or make a chargeable call, you also need to have credit on your account to do those things, they are not free, have you made sure that you have enough credit on your account?
