EE roaming in India

Richenda1982

Hello,

I will be travelling to India (solo female) and have concerns about using my phone aboard. I have read other chat forums saying that even when buying EE roaming add on for India, their phone still did not work.

I arrive early hours in the morning & as you can imagine will need a working phone for my own peace of mind and safety.

Can EE guarantee that if I purchase before leaving, that my phone will work?

Many thanks x

Chat forums tend to be frequented by people with problems needing solving rather than those reporting "everything works fine", and the vast majority of those type posts on here are from people who have chosen a billing add-on to reduce the cost of roaming.... but not enabled the free facility to roam.

It is that facility which allows use of foreign networks and thus coverage abroad - pay-monthly users need to text ROAMING to 150 before leaving the UK, to ensure this is done. PAYG users just use your phone in the UK first to auto-enable the facility.

Having said all that, if you're unsure about travelling to a particular location without having a phone, I'd question whether it's safe to go there at all - ultimately, coverage in foreign countries is provided by their local networks, and EE's roaming allows access to them.
