I have been an EE customer for many years. I moved permanently to the USA 5 years ago. My U.K. number continued to be used for a number of years but then stopped working. I still have U.K. bank accounts and when I use my U.K. credit cards in the USA the transaction often fails. The bank send a message to my U.K. number (they can’t use USA numbers) but I never receive them. This means I have to call my U.K. bank every time. So frustrating. It often leads to the cancellation of my credit card and having to get a new one. How do I reinstate the service to my U.K. mobile so I can at least receive (send) text messages?

@daly654 : Is your SIM on contract or PAYG or did you move it from contract to PAYG when you left UK?

Was your EE number a PAYG or pay-monthly? When did it last work?
If your number has been disconnected for anything more than days or (at best) a few weeks, it's no longer yours to reinstate and you'll need to seek alternative means of verifying with the bank in question.
