Having landed in Australia I’ve bought an ee add on which will allow me to use my home data messages calls etc but it’s not connecting. There’s nothing on my setting which says turn on data roaming. I also runs an Airolo eSIM but even when I turn that off there’s still no 4g signal

I’m having the same issue! Bought a roaming add on but it’s not connecting and not getting any info from ee at all. It’s just saying make sure data roaming is turned off in but nowhere on my setting does anything say turn in data roaming. Jet lagged and my brain is fried

@lizzyo60 : As you are on contract, did you activate roaming on your EE a/c before you left UK by texting ROAMING to 150? Having a roaming billing add-on doesn't of itself activate roaming on your a/c. Nor is it anything to do with data roaming settings. Having roaming activated on your EE a/c, not just on your device, is crucial to using your contract SIM abroad.

Often just rebooting the phone is the simple remedy. Also try selecting a network manually rather than auto.

Otherwise if you are on contract you need to call CS to get your roaming activated. Try calling CS on the Freephone no. in my sig. on Skype over WiFi. It should be free.

Hi
I definitely have roaming activated in my phone as I travel a lot. I’ve tried rebooting. Also there’s no list of networks. As I have an eSIM running too this seems to negate any mention of turn on data roaming on the device
Thanks for the help tho I’ll contact ee when the timings are better. My husband has the roam abroad feature constantly and has connected no problem.
Thanks Liz

Who's talking about your phone? It's nowt to do with it. I told you that it's whether you activated roaming on your EE account by texting ROAMING to 150 in UK.

Roaming is not a phone setting, it's an account/SIM one.

The phone setting you're likely thinking of, is "data roaming" - this simply allows use of mobile data whilst already roaming.

This is all regardless of physical SIM or electronic SIM, which makes no difference.

If you perform a manual network search, and are saying no networks are found - there's your problem.

Hi
I’m in the centre of Melbourne Australia so I know there’s definitely network’s available, my husband is with ee and his is working fine. I’ve managed to get an eSIM from airolo to work but the addon from ee is not showing anywhere

Hi
Yes the phone is definitely activated and I got the reply saying is activated. I travel a lot and was in Africa recently and it worked there no problem. It seems to be since they dropped the £25 a month Roam Abroad option on December 4th

Hi @lizzyo60

If the add-on is not showing on your account I would recommend switching your flight mode off and on, this should trigger a welcome text with the link to purchase the add-on.

Could you please try this and let us know how you get on?

Speak soon,

Katie
