Hi,
I have a similar question. My phone was stolen on May 9, 2024, and while I got a replacement SIM, I haven’t deactivated it yet. It's been about 4 months now, and on September 9, I noticed that my UK number was removed from the WhatsApp groups I was part of. You mentioned the time limit is 6 months, but what happens after 4 months? I plan to activate my SIM in October. Is there anything I can do before then?
Thanks!

@Sinem40 : Nowt happens after 4 months if you've already used it. It wouldn't go into hibernation. However there may be "Use by" date on its packaging, like groceries, that would cancel it if unused for a reasonable period.
I can't see how WhatsUp can remove your no. from them unless the thief initiated it.

This would only have been done by admins of the groups in question.
