Did you mean:

bought a prepaid Pay As You Go Sim from ARGOS and it does not start when I call

Hi. I recently bought a £15 Pay As You Go sim card along with a new phone from Argos. When I put the card in I get the SMS confirming that I have the plan but it does not start when I text or call anybody. Which is what the message is telling me to.

@jbrown21 : Did you pay £15 to Argos when you bought it? If so, it should have £15 pack on it & be usable. Your problem is not lack of credit as implied elsewhere but that the pack is not showing up yet. How long ago did you buy it? The pack should've appeared within 24 hours. You might have to phone CS to find out what's happened to it.

Hi @jbrown21

Thanks for coming to the community.

Can you text BALANCE to 150 and let me know the full reply?

What happens when you make a call or send a text?

Speak to you soon 🙂

Leanne.

The reply was: "Your current balance as of today 18:12, is £0.00. For more info on your plans, add-ons or free boosts, go to the EE app or ee.co.uk" It does not specify anything about my plan. If I call it just says I need to top up first, and an SMS simply doesn't send.

The solution to your issue is a lack of credit. The balance text confirms a prepay balance of zero.

When you are advised to top-up in order to make a call or send a chargeable text message, that is your solution.

So I have to pay again for a plan I already bought? Shame. Thanks though!

Well, the immediate problem self-evidently *is* that, given that the error message on calling is "please top up"

There may be a separate issue of a missing pack meaning that credit shouldn't be needed...

Agreed with the advice to call CS on that.

How can it be self-evident? Only to your own self! The OP has already topped up when they bought the SIM. The price of the SIM is effectively a top-up to buy the initial pack; the SIM h/ware is free. You want the OP to top-up again & fall into the same trap? The initial top-up was successful but self-evidently it failed to activate any pack.

It would seem that you have got into the habit at taking pot shots at me even when your own advice is suspect.
