Unable to call or text

I am currently travelling south east asia, while travelling I switched from my monthly contract to pay as you go. Since the switch has completed, I am unable to call/text off my phone. Can’t even call EE as everything is blocked. I’ve topped up my sim. Any advice?

Hi @Jamesnmorgan You'd need to make a call from the UK to activate the PAYG sim.

SIM cards can not active on a roaming network it has to be directly on the EE network.

Are you able to send the sim to a friend or a family member in the UK to activate it for you?

All new PAYG SIMs need to be activated on EE's UK network, before roaming is auto-enabled for use abroad. This includes migrations from pay-monthly.

Now that your SIM is a new PAYG one, it therefore needs usage in the UK before roaming is enabled. If you've not done this, it will not work abroad until it's first used on EE's UK network.
