Top Up Credit was not used

Hi, so I topped up my phone by £15 yesterday so my data would continue to roll over. I had a message saying it had been successful and then this morning I have awoken to a message saying I still need to top up. But the credit it just sat there. I tried to use it but it would not let me, so I have had to spend another £15 in order for my data to work. Is there any way this money can come back into my account or will it be used for my next top up? Thanks in advance for any help.
