I didn't get a text on arrival in  Spain offering me the roam like home options. How can roam like home be activated from Spain so l can use my subscription pack?

To use your pack allowances in the EU on PAYG there are roaming charges of either £2.50 / day, by texting ROAMEU1D to 150, or £10 / week, by texting ROAMEU7D to 150, to be taken only from your PAYG credit, not your recurring card payment. You should receive a msg upon arrival telling you about the charges for roaming in EU. If you opt to text neither or you don't have an active pack, you will be paying standard rates for calls & texts & need to buy a PAYG add-on for data.

That's very helpful.

However, is there no option to buy this add on in advance?

I'm going to France for a couple of days this week and trying to sort this out via Text on arrival is just a pain.

When I signed up to EE earlier this year EU roaming was included in my PAYG monthly package. They've now removed it and as a result I will be leaving EE very shortly. It's not simply the cost of the add-on it is also the hassle of having to sort it out. Another Brexit benefit.

@DrVenn : Usually you buy these "Roam Like Home" add-ons on arrival in response to a Welcome text. I suppose you can order them in advance but you will be paying from that day. Try it & see if it accepts it.

Thanks. I appreciate the response. I am a forward planner and try to get all the mundane tasks out of the way so I can enjoy my holiday. Hence my preference to do this in advance - but I would prefer even more not to have to do it at all.

I have found a much better deal at another provider which includes 5gb of EU roaming data. The only reason I didn't go with them previously was a poor signal where I live. They claim to have fixed that now so I shall be off there when I get back from France.

As I'm actually only in France for 48 hours I suppose I can just use two successive one day top ups?

@DrVenn : Yes, as long as you have an active pack.
