Hi
I am in Cyprus and arrived yesterday
I only want to receive text messages , nothing else
My ee phone is in credit
I have read replies on this topic and understood that texts could be received free
BUT having just received a text from the UK I got this message from ee
Welcome to Cyprus.
There may be a charge to access to your pack
Allowances,
Free boost or add on while your here.
It will cost 2 pounds 50 pence for 24 hours access or you can choose to pay 10 pounds for 7 days access.
If you are in Ireland these charges do not apply
For 24 hours access text ROAMEU1D1500 or for 7 days text use ROAMEU7D
If you don't have an active pack. or choose not to pay the daily/weekly charges, you'll be charged 70p per min, 30p per text and need an EU data addon
This I find very confusing
I am now in Cyprus for 27 days and want to receive textx at the rate of one text every day
If I do nothing will this cost me 70p per text ?
Or am I going to be charged 2 pounds Fifty pence every day plus 70p ?

Receiving text messages is free of charge.
You can find full details on using your allowance for making and receiving calls, sending texts and using data if you wish to at any point during your trip in our Pay As You Go charges for roaming in the EU Help page.

Are you in the North or the South?
If you are near the border you might connect to Turkish masts in the north which is not EU.
