I have got same issue as of today and I am overseas.
Tried topping up with UK bank cards unsuccessfully
Why on earth EE does not send SMS ALERTS???
How am I supposed to top up my EE from abroad?

Hi Katie,
thanks for the reply although does not answer to my point. I have clicked on Solution unintentionally btw.
I have sorted the issue calling the EE relevant dept thus number has been re-activated as non dormant. The entire op costed me a fortune since was calling from abroad. Next time will follow advice given by @XRaySpeX and use +44 800 079 8586 freephone.
Don't see any reasons why the freephone EE for customers calling from abroad not available online? Is the afore Freephone correct?
Can you please answer that?

It's only free cuz it's calling a UK Freephone over Skype. From a actual phone abroad it'll cost.
