Hi @Grappenhall12

Welcome to the community.

Are you abroad at the moment or are you planning for a future trip?

In order for a pay as you go SIM card to work, it must have been used in the UK to make a call, or send a text message. If you speak to our Mobile Care team, they'll be able to confirm if the SIM is set up for roaming.

You can check the costs of using your pay as you go SIM abroad here.

With a data only SIM you will not be able to use your pre-paid data in EU but will need to buy a roaming data add-on.

Hi can anyone help with my query. I have a Pay as You Go Moblle WiFi router which I purchase and download Data . The Sim Card is for the U.K. and Europe only , I am going to Italy over the festive season how do I purchase a roaming package has this is a Router not a mobile phone I cannot receive Tex messages asking me to purchase roaming. Any one have information how I could access roaming charges to this mobile WIfi Router. I believe I have to be in the Country of choice

regards to every one

@Grappenhall12 : You've already had responses on this matter here.. Please do not keep starting new threads on this matter so that everyone can see all the relevant info.

Most mobile routers can receive texts. Login to it & look for the SMS Section/Inbox.

There is no roaming package when you don't have a pack. You will receive a msg upon arrival telling you about the charges for roaming in EU. As you have only a data SIM you won't have an active pack & so you will be paying standard rates for calls & texts & will need to buy a PAYG add-on for data. See https://ee.co.uk/help/mobile/roaming/roaming-costs/countries/france. > PAYG

Hi @Grappenhall12

Welcome to the community.

You would normally get a text on arrival in Italy to let you buy the add-on to use the pack allowances. Do you have a phone that you can put the SIM in temporarily when you arrive to be able to receive the text and follow the activation steps?

Michael

@Michael_D : No need! Mobile routers are capable of receiving texts.

You need to familiarise your self with Mobile WiFi Routers before you insult a customer. My Router is an EE Mobile WiFi device Sim Free in which I have an EE Pay as You Go Sim Card inserted.
This Sim Card only only Receives DATA it does not receive SMS Tex messaging.
I have had an account with EE Online in which I purchase DATA for many years .
So do not insult me .
