PAYG sim seems dead

Hi,

ordered a PAYG sim online via EE and received it. Didn’t install it in a phone straight away. Recently I put it in my phone and topped up £5 online.

the sim seems to be dead, doesn’t give any reception on both phones that I tried it on.

any help would be appreciated.

How long is "not straight away"?
