New roaming charges

I am currently in Jersey on an extended stay and received a text about EU roaming charges. It shouldn’t affect me because Jersey in not in the EU.

I top up £10 a month payg and had a residual £1.89. However I sent 3 texts this morning and discovered this had gone down to 69p!  Is this correct?!  If I now have to pay £7.50 for a week, would this come out of my existing £10 pack.

Does it cost money to speak to customer services?  I want to query why Jersey is being treated as EU when it isnt. I googled whether it’s free  and found contradictory answers.

Thanks in advance  for any help

No, but it is in EE's Euro Zone to which the these new roaming charges apply.

As you had not bought 1 of the "Roam like Home" add-ons it costs you 30p to send a text.

See https://ee.co.uk/help/help-new/roaming-costs/countries/jersey.

Thank you for your speedy reply. I replied just now but it disappeared and I don’t think it got sent.
I tapped on that website but it didn’t recognise Jersey and said to check the spelling. For the past year I have been able to send texts and make calls to the U.K. from Jersey with my £10 pack. I can’t find anywhere that lists Jersey outside the U.K. zone. Has it recently changed?
Looks like I will have to change network and I have been with EE forever ☹️

No, Jersey has never been part of the UK. It's a self-governing dependency of the UK.

Yes, you've been able to call & text from Jersey to UK free from within your pack until today when it's all changed.

Thank you for your prompt reply.
When I received the EE text about the new roaming charges I didn’t think it applied to me because it stated ‘travel to EU countries’ and of course Jersey is not in the EU (it’s British Isles but not U.K)
So now, whilst stuck in Jersey for a few more months, instead of £10 a month it would cost me £7.50 a week!? My current pack has almost 2000 minutes and unlimited texts until the 1st July. It says my current balance is about 30p. So do I lose my current allowances unless I pay £7.50 a week? … that’s £30 a month.
I don’t have a smartphone, just a Doro old fashioned phone. Would I have to change the settings if opt to do this? There is no roaming setting on my phone. I have no experience of roaming, this is all new to me.
Sorry to bombard you with so many questions but this is a worry to me and I appreciate your help and advice
many thanks
Kaf
