Hello, I have a similar issue. I haven't used my telephone number for quite some time because I was abroad. I want to keep my number and tried to top up but with no success. My account has been deactivated. Is there a way to keep my current mobile number? And to top-up?

The post you'd added to was over 2years old, so yours has been moved to a new thread.
In the absence of chargeable usage or top-ups, PAYG lines are hibernated after 179 days. You then have a further 3months to contact EE-CS to reactivate the number and restore credit, before the line is totally disconnected after 273 days.
