I have a data only sim which I have installed in a bike computer. I have come to buy an add on for some more data for the first time. I have gone on the internet and topped up my account with £5 (via my non EE phone). When I come to try and purchase an add-on with my credit it instructed me to connect to the EE network so it can check my data usage. But my bike computer has no browser so how can I top up this way?

@Deeferdonk : Put the SIM in a phone would seem to be the only way.

Thanks, I was hoping for an alternate solution as I don't want to dismantle my device every month just to top up my add on. It has taken £5 top up money off me and can tell me what the data usage is on my app on any other device so can't see the logic. Went through a complete ball ache actually getting the SIM with EE running unnecessary credit checks, for a SIM I just want to top up 200mb every month for £2. I think I have been sold something that is not suitable for the use case I had indicated so I will contact EE for my money back.

You should be able to buy a data add-on direct from your online EE a/c w/out having to connect the SIM itself to the network.
There aren't any credit checks for PAYG. You're never going to ask for any credit for it.

Yes - i think you should be able to do that too. Yet, when you try on the app it takes you to a website "add-on.ee.co.uk" and gives you the issue that has caused me to ask the question. Am i missing something?

Yet when you order a data SIM through this website https://ee.co.uk/mobile/preloaded-data-sims it requires you to add your details for a credit check. Then a lady calls you up from EE to say your details have come to the wrong part of EE for this and they can't provide the SIM that you require. And you have to ring a different part of EE yourself to get it. They gave me £1 worth of credit for the inconvenience. Just checked and the link still does that even though I requested that they correct it. I got the impression that I wasn't the only person that had had the issue. Maybe needs referring to the ombudsman - does seem like a GDPR infraction to be gathering peoples financial data unnecessarily.

Just had a look. You should be able to get to it in your online a/c from Home > Manage your Plan > Your Allowances > Data > Get an Add-On > Choose 1 from list.
