expand memory alcatel 1

I've purchased an EE Alcatel 1, 5033 xr

phone details state :

• Internal memory 16GB.
• Expandable memory up to 32GB when using microSDHC card slot

I'm unsure do I purchased a 16GB memory card to bring to total of 32GB or do I purchase a 32GB which seems to suggest would make memory 48GB?

I believe the phone you have is https://www.gsmarena.com/alcatel_1_(2021)-10980.php 

The spec supports SDHC which is upto 32Gb capacity, so that gives you 48Gb in total.
