How do I unlock a 4GEE mini without an EE sim card?

grlebo

I have a 4GEE mini router, but I don't have the EE sim card that came with it.  I am in the US, so I cannot get to an EE store.  I would like to unlock the router so I can use another SIM card in it (in Chile).  Is it possible to unlock the router without the EE sim card?  I cannot text EE to get an unlock code.

Thanks for your help!

@grlebo : You don't use an EE SIM to unlock an EE device away from EE. You need another network's SIM, but I can't swear a foreign 1 will do, & its unlocking code.

You can just apply for unlocking by using the Unlocking your device form and giving its IMEI no., which you can obtain be dialling *#06# into its keypad.

If you think I helped please feel free to hit the "Thumbs Up" button below.

To phone EE CS: Dial Freephone +44 800 079 8586 - Option 1 for Mobile Phone & Mobile Broadband or Option 2 for Home Broadband & Home Phone

ISPs: 1999: Freeserve 48K Dial-Up > 2005: Wanadoo 1 Meg BB > 2007: Orange 2 Meg BB > 2008: Orange 8 Meg LLU > 2010: Orange 16 Meg LLU > 2011: Orange 20 Meg WBC > 2014: EE 20 Meg WBC > 2020: EE 40 Meg FTTC > 2022:EE 80 Meg FTTC SoGEA > 2025 EE 150 Meg FTTP

OK, thanks for the direction. But, I have tried that a couple of times since your reply and have received the message:

"Please try that again
Sorry, something went wrong on our end. Please enter your IMEI again or come back later"

Is there something more that I should do?

Thanks!

Leanne 🙂

I have rge same issue.

I have an iPad mini locked to E.  The online tool does not work as it keeps saying"

"Please try that again
Sorry, something went wrong on our end. Please enter your IMEI again or come back later".

The cutomer services number in you Post takes me to a menu  which I cannot dial with the iPad and when I use an iPhone (anothernetwork) it tells me not an EE device.  The link obtained by texting 60071 takes me back to

"Please try that again
Sorry, something went wrong on our end. Please enter your IMEI again or come back later".. Come back later - it's two days of tryimg now.
There are 5 menu options for that EE number - which one do I need?  Option 5 -for unlocking does not get me anywhere.  Thank you

Hi @drrbr1

Please call us on 0800 956 6000 and select option 1, the team will help you with unlocking the device.

Leanne.

Hello

Thank you.  I did that (different number) and EE resolved the issue.  Took 43 minutes plus 25 minute wait time though.  Apparently specific procedure for Mini 1st generation.
