Trade in discount

I've upgraded my phone to the Pixel 9. I was told it would be dispatched by Tuesday (yesterday) but there are still no updates. Obviously it's really in-demand.

I've no problem with having to wait, my issue is that I got the trade-in discount. I have to send my old phone back by the 10th, otherwise I lose the discount and have to pay the difference. 

What do I do if the new phone hasn't arrived by then? I can't send the old device back without the new one arriving as I need a phone!

Which colour and memory size did you go for?

I got the 256gb in Porcelain. 

Funnily, also, the phone was dispatched this afternoon so running out of time to trade in is no longer a worry.
