Hello,
Im hoping someone can point me in the right direction. My boyfriend received a text message on Saturday advising that his mobile number had been updated on his EE. He thought this may be a fraudulent text so he didn’t click any links etc, logged into his account and noticed his mobile number was the same so thought nothing of it. He has since received a text from DPD today that they have delivered a parcel to someone in Dagenham, with a photograph of the parcel being handed over. The other persons full address is provided on DPD but there are no order details or charges etc on his EE account. I’m thinking there’s clearly something fraudulent going on here, but not sure what to advise him? He is going to call EE but a lot of the information on these threads seem like they don’t usually help. Shall I contact the police and hand over the other persons address etc? My boyfriend only has a PAYG sim but no other contract/phone shows up on his account. Just not sure what to do, any help would be appreciated.

I wonder if somehow, his number has been put on someone else's order as a contact number by mistake, @chantelleworgan.
Were they able to search with the DPD reference number?

Welcome to the community.
I strongly suggest that your boyfriend gets in touch with our Mobile Care team so that this can be looked into as soon as possible.

Hi Chris,
He’s just got off the phone with them. All they have advised is ‘there’s absolutely nothing on your account’ so they can’t do anything. Not really sure what else we can do? Clearly something has been ordered otherwise I don’t understand how DPD have a parcel from EE under someone else’s name on his account. He logged into DPP and can see the full delivery address and even the reference from EE.

Hi Christopher,
Yes they looked at the DPD reference and all they could advise was what you have said, ‘other customer has inputted the number by error but they couldn’t explain why he received the ‘mobile number updated’ text 2 days before. DPD are blaming EE and EE say to contact DPD. No real resolution as they’re adamant there’s no order and ‘absolutely no chance that his number is linked to someone else’s account’ but I guess we’ll see if he’s charged the future. It makes most sense that they’ve inputted his number by mistake.
Thank you for your help regarding this matter, I really appreciate it 😊

OK, thanks @chantelleworgan
It does sound like the more likely explanation, but please ask him to keep an eye on his EE Account. Let us know if you have any problems and we'll do our best to help here.
