What on earth is going on at EE?

So this week I knew that my watch was due for an upgrade. After asking live chat about 5 times they eventually explained to me the date I was due for upgrade. Not before trying to sell me a new line and telling me to just cancel the old one. Terrible hard selling which was so easy to see through.

based on this I go looking elsewhere for pricing and see o2 are doing existing customers (I have a pay monthly line for my son) the watch ultra 2 for 25 p/m. Versus ee offering the same watch and plan to, a customer of 13 years, 38 p/m!!

I phoned 150 and asked if they could do anything better than the 38 given how long I’ve been with them. Nothing. Not a jot.  Got told that was an incredible deal. Not even a 5ver off.

goes to show where customer loyalty lies. Absolutely awful showing all around from the way I’ve been handled, lied to, misinformed. And then at the end of it can’t even give me a reasonable deal, shambles of a company

Hi @GMPompey

You're getting a new customer deal at 02 which will always be subsidised.

There is no account access on these forums and this is just your side of the story. Loyalty alone doesn't entitle you to anything.

Thanks

Not always an apples to apples comparison when you're only looking at the monthly cost, the network you've mentioned routinely offer Watches on 36 month and 48 month contracts, as opposed to EE's 24 month plans on Wearables and Connected Devices.

Unsure of the specifics of what you were offered, but I would wager it is at least a 36 month plan.

(Edit: looking at their website, the default option on their watch plans is 48 Months. Total cost of ownership based on that deal and the 36 Month deal is much lower with EE. To work this out, multiply the monthly cost by the contracted term, this will tell you how much you pay over the course of the contract)

The Apple Watch Ultra 2 is worth £799. The EE plan at £38 over 24 months works out at £912. That means you are paying ~£4.71 per month for the data plan over 24 months, which is typically priced at £7 per month when purchased separately. It is objectively a good deal.

I’m not getting a new customer deal at O2. As per my post I am an existing O2 customer.

Yes, certainly is a one sided story. But aren’t all frustrations or complaints that are aired on forums like this?

Thanks for pointing out the account access, however this would be expected on an insecure platform like this.

Finally you’re correct. Loyalty means nothing to EE.

Appreciate the input

Thank you for your reply, and taking the time to explain your view rather than be curt and defensive of EE.

the info you provided is very useful and will help to ensure I chose the best deal when shopping around.  Contract length wasn’t a consideration, I will go back and look to see what O2 offer and how it is comparable.

Thanks again for the advice

@GMPompey  Just to pint out there are no offers on watch tariffs. No gets any discount on them not even those how have a friends and family discount.  So as for a loyalty discount you can forget about it you won’t get it.   You’ll only get a discount on phone or tablet tariffs.
