Accessing other subscriptions via EE

Hi,

new to EE (from BT). When I was with BT I had my own Netflix (ad free) and Now Sky account. I was told these would work on EE but whenever I try, it begins to add  them to my EE billing account (even though I pay directly already).

I have seen replies suggesting I should sign out of my EE account and into my personal account each time (this seems like a large amount of hassle). Can I set up the personal accounts on my pro box and leave the EE one on my mini?

thanks,

Hope I've given you enough info.

Hi @Chipstick

So, you should be able to have a separate Netflix subscription and log into the app on the TV Box Pro, Mini or Apple TV 4K without causing any issues. I assume you are clicking on “log in” rather than “join”?

For NOW it is a bit more complicated if you do have any passes as part of your EE TV subscription, because you have in effect signed away all billing on that NOW account to EE.

So let’s say you buy Big Sport and have access to a NOW Sky Sports pass, billed via EE. The NOW app on the TV Box Pro will default to the login via EE.

You can log out and then login with a different set of credentials if you set up a second NOW account with different details and bought say, a Cinema pass for a month, but every time you log out of the app on EE kit, it will default back to the NOW login associated with your EE account.

For ease of use, you need to either go all in with NOW via EE and just let them handle the billing (more expensive but you get the TV Guide and ability to record), or you cut the connection between EE and your NOW account completely to retain control. I suspect this isn’t an option if you have just moved.

The only hybrid way to use it is as you are, or by buying an additional device that is only used for your ‘personal’ NOW account, something like a cheap Fire TV stick.

Hi Whoviewyouview,

that's as I suspected. Unfortunately I have a cinema package (that I don't want) just to access the HD and 4K content.

Just to clarify - if I personally sign in on my pro box it will not alter the EE now signin on the mini box?

I 'm trying to access my Now sky sports package (hugely expensive through EE) but with no success - even my smart TV seems to have stopped access to the Sky Go app!

As the very concerned sales guy at EE suggested - I may have to bite the bullet and just pay up......or NOT.

The apps on each box are independent, so logging in on one will have no impact on the other, but both will keep defaulting back to the EE login every time you exit because you have one NOW pass associated with an account billed by EE.

What exactly that requires NOW have you bought via EE? Sky Cinema? You only get standard NOW Boost as well currently with EE, so no 4K apart from TNT Sports.

What EE TV package do you have and what are you paying NOW for directly? Just Sky Sports?

Thanks again - I will update the NOW personal subscription on my Pro box and never exit - hope that keeps it live.

I have NOW entertainment but was told I could not have ANY HD or 4K content without a NOW subscription. I have personal NOW sky sports separately that I am trying to access.

I don’t think it will, it should reset daily.

The Sports and Big Sports packages include HD these days on EE, but for NOW Entertainment and/or Cinema you also need the NOW Boost to add HD.

TNT Sports Ultimate is the only 4K broadcast content available through EE (apart from anything in HLG HDR via iPlayer), NOW content is limited to a maximum of HD if you have Boost, but they are working on delivering Ultra Boost.

The signing in and out would drive me nuts, personally I would buy another device to use for NOW Sky Sports if possible or just see if I could do a deal with EE. The Big Sport pack is like £38, includes HD and everything from TNT Sport and Sky Sports and would be available on both boxes in the TV Guide and on demand.

Good luck with whatever you choose 👍
