I just want to check my understanding from reading the Roaming info on the website. I am shortly going to the USA and have checked the charges. Do I need to text 'Roaming' to 150 or will arrival in the USA automatically find a network provider and I will be charged as per the listings?

@land-537 you need to make sure roaming is enabled on your account before you leave the UK. Open the My EE app go to settings/roaming and make sure both toggles are enabled

Chris, thanks for the response. I have gone to settings but am unable to see any option that directly relates to Roaming. I am an unsophisticated user so it's probably obvious where I should look but cannot easily see.

@land-537 are you on contract or pay-as-you-go if you’re on pay-as-you-go you don’t need to do anything you just need to make sure you’ve got credit to be able to pay for these calls and texts and you need to purchase a data add-on to be able to use data, if you’re on contract go to settings and there you should see roaming

Thanks for the further help but unfortunately the image you sent bears no relation to what I see. I am not using the app but am online on my laptop, I don't know if that makes a difference. This is what I see (not complete but I'm sure you get the idea)

Look at Menu > Account Settings > Parental and Data Controls > Roaming Abroad and also Call Abroad and Premium Rate. They will show as ticked if roaming and calling abroad is activated. If they are not ticked, can you activate these settings?
If you can't enable the Roaming Abroad and the Call Abroad & Premium Rate settings of your online MyEE, you will need to call CS. Try calling CS on the Freephone no. in my sig. over Skype. It should be free.
To phone EE CS: Dial Freephone +44 800 079 8586 - Option 1 for Mobile Phone & Mobile Broadband or Option 2 for Home Broadband & Home Phone

@land-537 , if you are on your laptop, if you have the My EE App, then you can do it from there, or log in to your account via the website, click on settings and then parental and data controls, you need to make sure that roaming and call abroad and premium calls are enabled, otherwise if you ring customer service they can do this for you, especially if you are unable to do this and it does not change when clicking allowed.

Why did it not occur to me to look under Parental Controls? I suppose it is logical in a roundabout sort of way.
Anyway, Roaming and calls abroad are both ticked already (hooray) but I can't see anything about Premium Rate. Is that going to be somewhere else?

Hi there @land-537
Thanks for coming here 🙂
To make sure you are all set up for Roaming, if you log into your My EE account online go to Menu > Account Settings > Parental and Data Controls > Enable Roaming and also Make calls abroad from the UK > They will show as ticked if roaming and calling abroad is activated.
Please see our EE Roaming - Getting ready to use your phone abroad, article for more information 🙂

@land-537 : Premium Rate is lumped together with Call Abroad for some inexplicable reason seeing as they are as unalike as chalk & cheese.
