Hi, i just got charged over £200 for making 47 min call to Ukraine. I thought calls to Ukraine are still free? Seems like this is not the case anymore and EE just started charging people without warning

Hi @andrewc98

As of the 10th of January 2024, we’ve stopped free international calls to Ukraine, and free calls, texts and data usage whilst in Ukraine. We made these charges free from February 2022, but have now resumed to charging our normal international rates.

Please visit Calling and Texting Ukraine from the UK for more information.

Thanks.

Leanne.

Hi @Leanne_T ,

Thanks for your reply. How come I've not been informed of this change in advance? This is beyond shocking treatment from EE when the war is still going on and people are suffering. How am I supposed to cover this bill from my own pocket when I'm doing volunteering work? I'm utterly speechless...

Disgusting. I had a similar Experience where after maing a 5min36 call to Ukraine, a few min after, had a text from Plusnet saying my £2 smart cap had been exceeded (It's why it's a good idea to have it set up) as my loss would be limited to £2 (or whatever you've set) I got the £2 refunded immediately.

Checking my account the charge was £10 for the one call, which probably capped as well, as EE now charge £3.91/min for either mobiles or LL's or 83p SMS OR MMS (BOTH MORE EXPENSIVE THAN WHEN RASCIA INVADED!!) Will not be using EE for anything ever again, unless they reverse this policy.

You should contact CS immediately and get them to refund the full ammount, They didn't inform you,

I am still receiving texts from EE advising calls data and messages are free of charge. Sent at 02:44 on 17-1-24 and previously on 13-1-24 … called EE had a disgraceful experience with the Guide called Ali from the Greenock call centre - their team leader has advised I will be refunded the £1300 +vat incurred in calls whilst in Ukraine (I’ve been here since Feb 22 ) and not charged for any other services until they formally confirm the date of service end. This is because they have made a mistake with their Comms and are sending out contradictory messages to customers - my advice to others working in Ukraine is to buy a Vodafone Ukraine sim and go pay as you go. It’s about 10-20£ a month maximum for good value data etc

I did get in touch with CS immediately and filed a complaint. I got a call back yesterday informing me they have credited most of the amount  back to me

Слава Україні!

Then why are you still sending messages to long term domestic business customers present in Ukraine advising that “all calls messages and data are currently free in Ukraine”?   - received 17:01:24 @ 02:45 EET
