Transferring number between existing account and new contract

Hi,

I'm hoping someone can help me and tell me how you'd go about doing this.

I've had my mobile number with EE for over 10 years and would like to keep the number. The number is on an EE account that too is over 10 years old and has another number on the account too, for the purposes of this thread, I'll say Number 1 is the number that I've had for 10 years, it allows me to gift data to Number 2 which is also on the same account, the account though isn't in my name, it was opened when I was younger.

I now want to take out my own EE sim only contract under my own account but use Number 1 from the long running account.

How would I go about doing this in the most efficient way?

Would I need to take out a new EE contract sim only plan first (which would supply me with a number) and then somehow change it?

Thanks

You'd 1st need to get the current owner of the contract wishing to be moved to call CS with both of you available on the line to effect a change of ownership. You will need to pass a credit check. You will then be paying for that contract. If you can't do it together CS will give the current owner a password for the other to quote when they call.

Then you could upgrade Number 1 to SIM-Only.

If you think I helped please feel free to hit the "Thumbs Up" button below.

To phone EE CS: Dial Freephone +44 800 079 8586 - Option 1 for Mobile Phone & Mobile Broadband or Option 2 for Home Broadband & Home Phone

ISPs: 1999: Freeserve 48K Dial-Up > 2005: Wanadoo 1 Meg BB > 2007: Orange 2 Meg BB > 2008: Orange 8 Meg LLU > 2010: Orange 16 Meg LLU > 2011: Orange 20 Meg WBC > 2014: EE 20 Meg WBC > 2020: EE 40 Meg FTTC > 2022:EE 80 Meg FTTC SoGEA > 2025 EE 150 Meg FTTP

Theoretically should work, but there is a 6-Month period where the line that is transferred cannot be upgraded, so it would fall apart there.

The only other solution I could think of is to call up with the owner of the original account (Number 1) and get it changed to PAYG.

Then once the change to PAYG has been actioned, the new contract can be set up using the advice from https://ee.co.uk/help/mobile/upgrade/pay-as-you-go-upgrades .

Or could potentially upgrade the SIM prior to the change of ownership.

The original account, or line being transferred (depending on which is the beneficiary) would lose any Multi-Line Discount upon transfer to separate accounts.

Would also lose the ability to gift data, as they would be on separate billing accounts.
