I’m currently at sea, and always have flight mode on, but Wi-Fi enabled. Usually my phone displays EE WifiCall.
However this time it shows Tampnet WiFiCall.
Why? Phone has been in flight mode since I arrived, worried that I will be charged if I receive a call over Wi-Fi.
thanks in advance…

@Annoyedasusual EE isn’t responsible for what connection your device makes to what network, Cellular or Wi-Fi. You say your only using Wi-Fi with the device on airplane mode if that’s the case perhaps you should delete the Wi-Fi connection you’ve created with that router (tempnet) as that’s the only when your connection is being made if the device is still on airplane mode.
And once more it’s not down to EE if your device connects to a different network connection, cellular or Wi-Fi or even Bluetooth.

Oil rigs don’t tend to do an awful lot of sailing, mate.

I’m connected to the same wifi network I’ve always been, with no issues in the past, and no changes in how I’ve connected. It’s always been EEwificalling, so with no information on why it would change anywhere in their FAQS or in the forums it begs the question of what are the conditions that I’m apparently supposed to be aware of that causes this without any real support from my provider? Snarky remarks from the community ain’t the answer though.

The "EE WiFi-call" indicator should be considered alongside "EE 4G" or "EE 5G" - WiFi is just the radio bearer, EE your home network.
Maritime mobile networks have always been subject to roaming charges, as have WiFi-originated calls made whilst abroad.
If an offshore WiFi/broadband network has now been identified as such for billing purposes, then that is likely the correction of a billing anomaly and it sounds like correct charges are now applying.
