Hello,

I recently switched my monthly cotnract to a pay as you go contract as i relocated from the UK to Colombia. I was advised by EE that they way to ensure my number is not deleted I need to top up and send a text/call from my phone every 3 months.

I am now at the 3 month mark in Colombia and after topping up I am unable to send a text or a call, I have signal however calls just fail and the SMS says that it was not delivered. Please advise what I can do, i do no want to lose this number.

Alex

There's two parts to this.

1: Did you use your phone in the UK after it was converted to PAYG and before travelling? That is what enables roaming access thus allowing access to foreign networks. You've mentioned your phone showing signal, but not that you've ever used it for calls or text messages.

2: Assuming roaming is not the issue, hibernation is normally after 6months of non-chargeable usage with a further 3months grace. You would need to contact EE-CS from another phone. to reactivate it. Users in similar scenarios have used a web-calling app such as Skype, to call +44 800 0798586

It takes 30 days to cancel a contract & before it is moved to PAYG. If you called EE while in the UK to move it to PAYG but you flew off before the 30 days were up, then you won't be able to use it until you return to UK.

If you think I helped please feel free to hit the "Thumbs Up" button below.
