Keeping my Samsung Phone A54 5G but thinking of upgrading to SIM only contract specifically 50GB, can I assume that this will have 5G access

Welcome to the Community, @heather09 👋

As @XRaySpeX has mentioned, all EE branded SIMs should be compatible with 5G.

Just be aware that if you have an older SIM from before September 2021, you may need a new one to benefit from 5G+, which you can find more details on here:

Using 5G+ | Mobile Help | EE

Should this be the case though, provided you have a valid passport or UK driving licence as ID, you can get a replacement SIM free of charge in one of our retail stores.

Alternatively we can also send you out a replacement via post with a small postage fee.

Yes, all EE SIMs are 5G nowadays. Need also to have 5G device & 5G locale to actually get 5G!

Thank you both for your help @Peter_W and @XRaySpeX  I'm keeping my Samsung A54 5G handset (out of contract from Jan 2026). I've upgraded to SIM only 50G Essentials. Will I be getting a new SIM? Or will my existing SIM be updated to my new plan?

Thanks in advance

Heather

A change of payment plan is just an account change, there's no need to replace a perfectly working SIM.
