Roaming charges

Am I right that if your mobile phone contract was taken out pre Brexit (?)  - I have a contract that was taken out in 2018 - roaming charges do not apply? Also, if that is correct, does it only apply to European countries or is it worldwide? We're off to the USA.

I've tried ringing EE but heaven forbid I might get to talk to a real person and I can't find any information on their website.

@katemayyoung  provide it’s the same contract and you haven’t upgraded any point after July 7, 2021 then you can use your allowances within the EU as for America you need a roaming pass.  Allowances were never included in the USA.
