Hi, could anyone confirm what each of these is?

Searched the forum and now more confused than ever!

I specifically checked I could use my UK allowance for free when doing a retention offer. If it isn’t one of these is any other way to check it has been applied?

Thanks!

  1. Your a/c is set up to be able to roam in the EU.
  2. When you do roam in the EU it'll cost you £2.29 on each day you use any of your UK allowances in the EU.

Thanks 🙂

The Roam in EU feels surpluflous! And confusing to users (I’ve scrolled so many posts) - particularly because it’s description is ..

Where would I check for the actual ability to use my UK allowance for free in the EU?

It isn't superfluous! The 1st is giving you permission/ability to roam in EU. The 2nd is how you pay for it when you do. If you don't have the 1st, you can't do the 2nd.

If your current contract started after 07/07/21 roaming is never free in EU.

Lol- you don’t need to tell a customer they have a feature, if you are separately telling them they are paying for that feature. Otherwise every add on box would be duplicated, no?

What compounds the confusion is current contracts say ‘ A daily charge applies to use allowances in the EU/EEA unless you have an add-on or Inclusive Extra that includes EU Roaming’, so users are looking for an add on called that!

But dont take a users opinion.

EE first line support are equally confused by the two of them. I’ve just rung them.

The  first colleague I spoke with said the free Roam in EU meant what it said; I could use my UK allowance for free.

The second colleague spent 5 mins trying to remove the £2.99 one because it ‘conflicted’ with the other one.

The third colleague says he can see the notes made by retentions, and I should have neither of those boxes.

After that faff, I’ve opened a complaint…

And the finale? I should have had ‘ Roam in EU YEuroAMFU ‘ applied, and now do.

(Respect to the speed of complaint management, btw, EE)

No, but it's useful to know whether roaming is activated on your a/c or not, otherwise you may go abroad & find nothing works even tho' you have the wherewithal to pay for it.
