Roaming Charges

Recently had a problem with roaming charges in Spain which is now fixed. Part of this solution was a discussion with my daughter (in Dubai & on the UK Sky network) who insists that she can make a phone call from a UK sim phone to any other other UK  sim phone (including mine) without incurring a roaming charge. She is adamant, as I suspect most 40+ year old  daughters probably are with 70+ year old parents, but I say she is wrong otherwise why would anyone bother having a roaming pass; or am I missing something here?

A basic principle of UK telecoms is that you are charged for the number you have called, irrespective of where that call terminates.

Part of this is that calls to a UK mobile number are charged as a call to a UK number, and if that mobile is roaming abroad - it is they who are liable for the incoming-international portion of that call.

That applies to all UK mobile operators (EE, O2, VF & 3) and all MVNO virtual providers (which includes Sky)

Hi @karis6197

I'm not familiar with Sky's plans, but roaming in the United Arab Emirates would only be covered with a roaming add-on with EE.
