Re: Unable to call UK from Abroad

My son is currently in Spain and has no signal. I have called EE and everything is activated on his plan for Roaming. There are no blocks. What does he need to do to his actual phone to clear any blocks?  He can't call EE as he has no signal at all.

Thanks

Hi @NFairbairn12

Are you aware if you have a spend cap on your sons account? this stops any charges outside of the allowance.

Has your son tried manually connecting to another available network?

Katie

There is no spend cap (we have EU data on our account) and he has tried other providers - nothing working.

Thanks for confirming @NFairbairn12

If there is no spend cap on the account and roaming is active I am unsure why this is not working.

Is data roaming switched on within the phone settings?

Is there anyone with your son who is experiencing the same?

Katie

Everything is switched on that should be switched on.  One other experiencing the same.

Are they also on EE @NFairbairn12?

This will need reporting to our technical care team so a diagnostics can be completed.

Katie

how do I do that?

Hi @NFairbairn12

The team would need to be contacted by either calling 150 from a EE handset or 07953 966 150 from any line.

Having no signal suggests either there is no network covering your son's current location, or that his phone doesn't have roaming enabled to connect to that local network.

To avoid doubt, your son's plan has nothing to do with enabling roaming which allows for connections to foreign networks. That is normally done by texting ROAMING to 150 before leaving the UK.

The payment plan only has an impact on the cost of roaming.
